Sligo’s MAN-power is stronger than ever, with the fibre optic network delivering real benefits to businesses and homes in the Sligo area, according to e|net, manager of Ireland’s fibre-optic Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs).

UPC has recently announced a suite of new Digital TV and telecommunications services to homes and businesses in Sligo and this is further proof of the massive benefits the MAN is bringing to the area.

Conal Henry, e|net CEO said, “The Sligo MAN is delivering real benefits to both businesses and residential customers in the wider Sligo area. UPC’s new service offering is great news for Sligo. It gives consumers further high quality telecommunications options and further underscores the importance of the MANs to the development of the next generation communications in Ireland.”

UPC’s partnership with e|net extends into other regional towns in Ireland such as Carlow, Athlone and Portlaoise where the MANs fibre optic rings has enabled UPC to build capacity into their network facilitating the rapid deployment of high bandwidth internet.

Robert Dunn, CEO of UPC added, “High speed broadband is an important asset in order to attract inward investment into Ireland. Today we are facing many evolving challenges for both the telecoms industry and the economy. However, we still need to continue to develop and invest in infrastructure to ensure that the business community and the local economy will grow and attract multi-nationals into the regions and to build local businesses in the area. Working relationships such as this one will benefit consumers, industry and empower business to be efficient and competitive.”
