MANs / Other Metro Fibre

Enet operates the Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs) on behalf of the Irish State in 94 cities and towns in regional Ireland. In addition, we also own and operate metro networks in Dublin, Castlebar, Shannon and Newbridge.

Enet operates fibre optic infrastructure known as the Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs) on behalf of the Irish government. These networks are capable of delivering virtually unlimited bandwidth to 94 towns and cities throughout regional Ireland.

The MANs operate on an open-access basis meaning that all licenced carriers can have access. This model is contrary to traditional operators’ exclusivity of network and allows for competition in a way that has not previously happened.
In operating the MANs, Enet has transformed the Irish telecommunications industry by stimulating competition, reducing bandwidth costs and accelerating Ireland’s broadband position.

The MANs underpin a policy of balanced regional development by removing a barrier to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and there is demonstrable evidence to highlight that MAN towns now secure the vast majority of FDI jobs.

This creates a unique and diverse proposition, offering service providers 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps connectivity between co-location equipment and the nominated connection point in your network.

Co-Location

Enet provides a superior means for operators to locate equipment using state of the art Co-Location facilities on any metro network.

This presents operators with a secure place to physically house hardware and equipment as opposed to locating it in offices or warehouses where they are exposed to fire, theft, power outages and communication outages.

Enet will allocate a designated service area where an operator can install their equipment within the Co-Location facility. As part of the product offering, Enet provides core utility services such as power, facility monitoring and environmental control.

Connectivity To The Tower

With significant fibre and wireless connectivityin place to nationwide towerinfrastructure, Enet already delivers scalable bandwidth solution to a host of mobile and wireless operators.

With and ever-growing footprint, Enet has an ability to deliver connectivity to hundreds of additional towers, to enablemobile and wireless carriers to accommodate increasing traffic and improve the overall customer experience for now (LTE and 4G) and well into the future (5G).

Enet can deliver dark fibre or deploy a managed connectivity solution to towers, as well as small cells.

3rd Party Tails

Our nationwide, deep interconnects with 3rd party network operators ensures that everywhere is on net with Enet.

Our ability to extend our footprint beyond proprietary network assets means we are a one stop shop for carriers and their wholesale needs. We commonly provide solutions bundling our own network as well as “enveloping” a 3rd party access tail to enable consistent physical and functional presentation of the entire solution.

32 County Coverage

Recent investment in our Belfast and greater Northern Ireland telecoms infrastructure, as well as our 3rd party capability ensures that we can offer a 32 County solution.

The Belfast network which is live and fully operational combines Enet’s extensive wireless network with a fibre presence covering all the main business districts including the city centre, Titanic Quarter.

The network also extends outside Belfast to surrounding areas namely Lurgan/Craigavon, Lisburn, Mallusk, Stormont, Dungannon, Kilroot business park, Carrickfergus, Armagh, Nutts Corner, Derry and Limavady and allows for onward interconnectivity to London and Dublin data centers via fibre connection.
