High in Fibre! High Quality WiFi Is The New Breakfast For Hotels

Press release
28th May 2015

The McWilliam Hotel is an example of the increasing number of Irish hotels that are receiving superfast fibre broadband via a connection to their local Metropolitan Area Network (MAN). For these hotels, a direct fibre connection guarantees guests high quality, reliable broadband – a key differentiator for attracting new and repeat business.

According to the hotel’s General Manager, Alan Hynes, hotel guests are extremely tech savvy and are travelling with multiple devices, so when they check in, they are expecting a high quality and hassle-free broadband experience.

He said, “Underperforming WiFi can affect guests’ experience and reduce the level of repeat visitors. This is even more critical in the corporate and conference market. From our point of view, access to high quality, reliable broadband services via the Metropolitan Area Network is crucial to our ability to do business the way we want to and offer high quality services to our guests.”

Conal Henry, CEO of enet, who operate the MANs commented on the phenomenon of hotels directly connecting to the infrastructure, “A few years ago, a good quality breakfast was seen as a critical differentiator for hotels – now’s it the quality of your WiFi – so in that regard, WiFi is the new breakfast!” He went on to say, “The McWilliam Park Hotel’s connection to the MAN allows for a superior high-speed broadband service provided with greater reliability and greater flexibility.”

The McWilliam Park Hotel is a four star hotel, centrally located in the heart of the West of Ireland in Claremorris, Co. Mayo.
