enet, Ireland’s open access network operator, today highlighted the benefits their ‘Fibre To The Business’ (FTTB) network, known as enet fibredirect. This initiative has delivered fibre directly into businesses in Claremorris, Loughrea, Ardee and Kilkenny and ensures that they can access superfast fibre broadband, as well as traditional telephone services.
Specifically delivered to SME’s, fibredirect enabled premises can now access broadband speeds of 250Mbs, providing the ultimate broadband experience, free from bandwidth bottlenecks and allowing users to take full advantage of digital markets and exploit online opportunities. Townley Medical Practice on the Ballyhaunis Road in Claremorris being a typical case.
Townley Medical is a busy, general practice with 3 doctors, 1 nurse and 2 support staff based on-site in Claremorris and already, they have seen the benefits that connectivity to enet’s network can offer. Dr. Eadaoin Townley, stated, “As soon as Townley Medical Practice were connected to the new fibredirect network, we immediately noticed a difference in our broadband speeds and crucially, it’s reliability. We were then able to adopt some cloud services via our cloud provider, CloudStrong, and that in turn has brought efficiencies and cost savings to our business.”
Dr. Townley continued, “We had looked at moving to the cloud before, but our broadband wasn’t good enough or reliable enough to facilitate it. Thankfully, we were connected to the enet fibredirect network and now have the speeds to make it work.”
In relation to the project, Conal Henry, enet CEO said, “enet are really excited by the reaction we’re getting from businesses in general, but Townley Medical Practice in particular. We always knew that our fibre network carries significantly more data, at much higher speed and without any loss in quality; but it’s always gratifying to hear how end customers are actually using the infrastructure to make a real difference to the way that they do business. The enet team strongly believe that fibre infrastructure and high speed broadband are essential supports for digital entrepreneurship, national competitiveness and job creation.”
The enet fibredirect project has already delivered fibre to over 1,000 businesses in 4 regional locations and the company is currently finalising its plans for the next wave of FTTB investment.
