Enet, Ireland’s largest wholesale, open-access network provider, has raised over €10,000 in vital funds for the Hope Foundation through an online quiz and virtual variety show. The Hope Foundation, a Cork-based charity that works to improve the quality of life for street and slum children in India, came together with Enet and quiz host Patrick Ahern to raise funds to support their emergency response fund.

The virtual event saw 80 teams from the four corners of the country and indeed some international participation in a light-hearted yet competitive quiz that tested general knowledge in a multiple-choice format. The event was in support of the Hope Foundation’s emergency response to COVID-19 and the devastation of Cyclone Amphan, which hit the Indian states of West Bengal and Odisha hard.

Maureen Forrest, Founder and Honorary Director of The Hope Foundation, said: “The situation in India is dire. Food shortages and lack of access to healthcare are continuing to make life unbearable for so many. The Sundarbans, and many parts of Kolkata, have been devastated by the super cyclone, and much of the Sundarbans is still underwater. We’re thankful for the support from Enet. These vital funds will be targeted at our emergency effort which will help some of India’s most vulnerable people get back on their feet.”

Commenting on their partnership with The Hope Foundation, Peter McCarthy, Enet Group CEO, said: “The Hope Foundation does amazing work in supporting vulnerable children, their families and communities but their efforts have taken on even greater significance since the COVID-19 outbreak and the catastrophic cyclone. Enet’s support for The Hope Foundation stems from our desire to make a difference through the support of a passionate team that provides help to those most in need right now.”

The collaboration between the Enet Group and the Hope Foundation is part of a two-year partnership. The online quiz follows a private dining experience in Richard Corrigan’s Virginia Park Lodge in February, and a number of additional future events are already in the pipeline.
