Enet, Ireland’s largest wholesale, open-access network provider, has appointed Jason Alderton as its first International Account Manager. In his new role, Jason will oversee the growth of the international business, enabling UK based telco’s to sell their services to Irish businesses, via Enet’s wholesale infrastructure. Jason will be based in the UK and will report to Cormac Ryan, Enet’s Sales Director.
The appointment comes as Enet continues to grow its business in Ireland and internationally. Enet operates the largest alternative wholesale telecoms network in Ireland, which comprises of over 5,400 Km of fibre infrastructure, including the Irish State’s Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs), proprietary metro networks, a unique dark fibre backhaul infrastructure, as well as one of the largest licensed wireless networks in the country.
With over 120 employees, Enet currently works with over 80 different retail service providers to bring high-quality data connectivity, broadband and wireless to more than one million end users throughout Ireland.
Enet is also key subcontractor for the rollout of Ireland’s ‘National Broadband Plan’, which aims to bring high-speed internet to more than 540,000 homes, farms and businesses across rural Ireland.
Enet’s design for the network, which was based on decades of technical expertise, was part of the final bid and the solution that the Irish Government approved earlier this year. Work on the National Broadband Plan is due to commence in the coming months and Enet will be working in close partnership with the consortium appointed to manage the National Broadband Plan to deliver services as quickly and efficiently as possible.
With 18 years’ of customer relationship expertise, Jason has wide-ranging experience and a thorough understanding of telecoms in the UK and international markets. He previously served as Sales Manager for wholesale carriers Fibernet, Global Crossing, and Exponential-e.
Making the announcement, Cormac Ryan, Enet Sales Director, said: “We’re delighted to have appointed Jason to the role of International Account Manager, as he brings a ready understanding of the international wholesale market. Expanding our on-the-ground presence in the UK will simplify the process for our international customers looking to access our extensive network. The appointment allows Enet to offer a unique tailored service for international operators seeking connectivity to Irish businesses.”
Speaking about his appointment, Jason commented: “The international telecoms market is becoming increasingly globalised at an ever-quicker pace, and I’m looking forward to building strong relationships between UK-based businesses and Ireland’s leading wholesale network provider. It’s an exciting time for the business as Enet continues to expand and develop new markets. In particular, I’m looking forward to demonstrating how we simplify the ordering process via our automated portal, Enet Connect.”
Enet was recently named as ‘One to Watch’ in a list published by the European Business Awards (EBAs), one of the world’s largest cross-industry, cross-border business competitions.
