e|net, the company which holds the concession to manage, maintain and operate the State’s Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) programme has unveiled a self funded extension on the network in Little Island.
Conal Henry, e|net CEO said, “e|net is delighted to announce that MAN connectivity has reached Little Island. Our experience has shown that the existence of a MAN has a major impact on boosting the range, quality and value of communications solutions for homes and particularly businesses in the area.”
Conal Henry went on to say, “One of e|net’s major objectives is to dramatically reduce the digital divide. The fact that Little Island is now MAN-enabled means that the area can now compete with Dublin as well as other major cities around the world.”
In total, almost 7 km of duct, sub duct and fibre optic cable has been deployed across the local area connecting Eastgate Business Park, Euro Business Park as well as the Sitecast Industrial Estate. Already a number of businesses have signaled their interest in connecting to the infrastructure and demand is seen to be very positive.
Little Island now joins other local areas of MAN connectivity, namely Cork City, Blarney, Carrigaline, Ringaskiddy and Passage West in having access to this world class infrastructure.
