A recent deal between enet and BBnet marks the launch of high capacity fibre services in Shannon. On the back of this deal, Shannon businesses will now be able to avail of 1GB end-to-end fibre directly into their businesses via enets new Shannon Area Network.

This deal was completed and the circuit handed over to Shannon based telecoms provider BBnet in recent weeks.  This is an exciting time for both enet and BBnet, and it marks the first time that telecom providers will now be able to avail of such high capacity via enets infrastructure in Shannon.

Under the terms of the deal BBnet have obtained the high speed circuit from Westpark Business Campus (home to 40 companies) to Telecity Dublin. This capacity is available now through the Shannon Area Network.

In relation to the initiative, Conal Henry, enet CEO said: “This deal with BBnet further signals enets commitment to the provision of fibre infrastructure in regional Ireland, and we’re particularly pleased to be able to offer world class solutions in Shannon, where previously we haven’t had the opportunity before. The capacity of our fibre is unlimited and will allow businesses in Shannon to benefit from higher capacity, wholly reliable, non-contended broadband. We already know that there is a link between superfast broadband and innovation, and this new network in Shannon will support further enterprise, innovation and investment.”

Commenting on the announcement, BBnets Managing Director, Barry O’Halloran said: “The demand for superfast internet access continues to grow at an exponential rate. BBnet is committed to ongoing investment in our network, and we are delighted that we are now in a position to deliver fibre to the premises in Shannon. This is the culmination of a 6 month project, which enables BBnet to deliver our competitively priced, dedicated internet access across enet’s world class fibre infrastructure, to the many businesses in the region.”
