Enet launches ‘one stop shop pricing tool’ enabling UK telcos to target Irish market

Oct 29, 2019

Enet, Ireland’s largest open access network provider, has launched Enet Connect, an automated online pricing portal that allows retail service providers to quote and order ethernet connectivity in less than a minute. The portal enables UK telecommunications providers to easily target the Irish market by reducing significant barriers to entry.

The platform ensures service providers can access ethernet connectivity via Enet’s own proprietary infrastructure or that of third parties through a single platform with individual addresses being searchable by Eircode postcode.

The launch of Enet Connect comes as Enet ramps up its overseas presence, having recently appointed Jason Alderton as its first International Account Manager. Based in the UK, Jason focuses on enabling British telecommunications firms to sell their services to Irish businesses via Enet’s wholesale infrastructure.

To complement the launch of the portal, Enet has also introduced a Business Broadband product that is available via the new Enet Connect platform. This product provides a Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) or Fibre to the Business (FTTB) broadband connection to business end-users, giving access to all FTTC and FTTH access networks in the Republic of Ireland. This end-to-end solution gives a FTTx broadband connection with a Fixed IP address and Enet-provided equipment for self-installation.

Commenting on the introduction of Enet Connect, David Eyre, Chief Commercial Officer at Enet, said: “Our UK-based customers have told us that it can be extremely difficult and time-consuming for these service providers to shop around and find the best connection available – especially for those that lack the resources to manage multiple IT integrations with a range of suppliers.

“Enet Connect brings Enet’s and third-party wholesale offerings together in one place and makes it easier for customers to select connectivity options. It acts as a ‘one stop shop’ for all wholesale telecom needs and, ultimately, will mean greater choice for consumers of telecoms services throughout the country.”

Jason Alderton, International Account Manager at Enet, says: “It’s been clear for some time that there were barriers to entry for UK service providers looking to access the Irish market – hindering competition. The new portal allows those firms to quickly and easily access all available wholesale infrastructure in the one place, and will help open up the Irish market to ensure a greater diversity of services.”

Enet operates the largest alternative wholesale telecoms network in Ireland, which comprises of over 5,400 Km of fibre infrastructure, including the Irish State’s Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs), proprietary metro networks, a unique dark fibre backhaul infrastructure, as well as one of the largest licensed wireless networks in the country.

The company currently works with over 80 different service providers to bring high-quality data connectivity, broadband and wireless to more than one million end users throughout Ireland and is set to be a key sub-contractor in the delivery of Ireland’s National Broadband Plan (NBP).
