Enet supports Three Ireland in delivery of 1Tbps connectivity nationwide

Mar 7, 2019

Enet, Ireland’s largest open-access network operator, is delivering high-speed fibre connectivity to 100 Three Ireland mobile high sites.

Enet has already completed work at 60 mobile high sites across the country and is on track to complete a further 40 sites in 2019. The project enables Three Ireland to access Enet’s unique, diverse backhaul infrastructure which comprises over 3,700km of fibre.

Access to Enet infrastructure will bring up to 1 TBps of resilient connectivity for Three. The project utilises Enet’s Dublin fibre network as well as the Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs) in locations such as Cork, Galway, Monaghan and Roscommon, which are capable of delivering virtually unlimited bandwidth to towns and cities throughout regional Ireland.

Declan Gaffney, Head of Radio Access Networks with Three, said: “As we continue our network upgrade nationally and expand our 2G, 3G and 4G networks, Enet’s high-speed connectivity enables us to both maximise the benefits of this investment for our customers, and make our network ready for future technologies.”

Cormac Ryan, Sales Director at Enet said: “As a wholesaler, Enet provides world class connectivity and co-location services to retail service providers who use these services to provide tailored and core network solutions to customers – as is the case with the mobile backhaul that we’re providing Three Ireland with this rollout. We are delighted to supply Three Ireland with 1TBps of connectivity for their network upgrade and expansion. Our open access, high capacity fibre infrastructure makes it easier and more cost-effective for our customers to deliver and support fast and reliable connectivity solutions to homes and businesses nationwide.”

Ryan added:It’s envisaged that 5G will support faster speeds and lower latency for consumers while also enabling the connectivity of a variety of devices beyond phones and computers to include internet of things (IoT) devices.”
