He has considerable knowledge in the areas of telecoms (fixed and mobile), utility services, real estate, renewable energy and consumer-facing digital technology, having amassed over 30 years’ experience with companies like Actavo, Thornsett, Digicel and Accenture, amongst others.

Peter has now been joined by the following additional members of enet’s new senior leadership team, all of whom possess a wealth of expertise of the Irish and international telecoms markets:

  • Noel Ryan – Chief Financial Officer. Noel has over 28 years of experience in telecommunications and financial management. He held senior financial roles at Digicel, Trulife Group, VeriFone, Trintech and Hitachi. Most recently, Noel held the position of Regional CFO of Digicel, the communications and entertainment provider that operates across 30 markets in the Caribbean, Central America and the Pacific.
  • David Eyre - Chief Commercial Officer. David has overall responsibility for enet’s customer engagements, delivery of the company’s revenue line, as well as broader commercial activities to ensure customer experience excellence. He has extensive understanding of telecoms in the Irish marketplace, with over 22 years’ experience in companies including BT Ireland and eir.
  • Thomas Flaherty – Technical Operations Director. Thomas possesses more than 20 years’ experience in technological innovation leadership, specialising in operational efficiency and maximising growth opportunities, gained at companies such as Lite Access Technologies, UPC (now Virgin Media) and Actavo.
  • Claire Murphy – General Counsel. Claire joined enet last year and has over a decade of commercial legal experience, having served in senior roles at Arthur Cox, Philip Lee, EirGrid and First Data.

Announcing the new appointments, Philip Doyle, Principal of the IIF, which owns enet, said: "We’re delighted to have secured the talents of such a vastly experienced team, with extensive knowledge of the Irish telecoms landscape. Peter McCarthy is a skilled leader with a proven track record of building and managing strong teams and businesses, and we’re looking forward to seeing enet’s continued growth under his influence and the efforts of all the team. We welcome the team on board and wish them every success.”

Commenting on the appointments, Peter McCarthy, CEO at enet, said: “The business has already shown an ability to transform the Irish telecommunications industry by stimulating competition, reducing bandwidth costs and accelerating Ireland’s broadband position. With our new senior team in place, I’m looking forward to working closely with them to lead the company through its next exciting phase of innovation and growth.”

The IIF acquired a majority stake in enet in October 2017, and purchase of the remaining 22% stake reached financial close in December 2018.
