enet Appoints Group General Counsel & Company Secretary

enet, Ireland’s largest open-access network provider, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Claire M. Murphy as the Group General Counsel & Company Secretary. In her role, Claire has responsibility for all legal workstreams for the group, as well as corporate governance matters.  In addition to her role as General Counsel and Company Secretary, Claire also assumes the title of Head of Shared Services. As part of this role, Claire will have responsibility for Human Resources, Business Transformation initiatives, and Regulatory matters.  

Claire brings considerable knowledge to this new role, with over 13 years’ experience in the legal profession having worked both in industry, in the utility and card payments sector, and in private practice in Ireland’s leading law firms.

Welcoming the announcement, enet CEO, Mr. Bartley McElroy said, “Claire’s expertise and dynamism is a great fit for the senior leadership team at enet. Claire has a wealth of experience across various industries which is important for this dynamic role. Her strategic and legal experience coupled with her ability to manage stakeholders and change aligns with enet’s development plans. She will be fundamental in implementing change management practices and ensuring efficiencies right through the group.”

Speaking about her appointment, Claire said, “I am excited to join enet at a time when the business continues to transform broadband for businesses and communities across Ireland. I am fully committed to supporting enet’s vision to deliver a high-speed broadband network efficiently and effectively, and leading our teams through this, and other exciting and challenging projects”.  

Claire is a graduate from UCD having studied Business and Law and a Commercial Law Masters. She continued her studies in the Law Society of Ireland where she qualified as a solicitor, and received Diplomas in Intellectual Property & Intellectual Technology, and In-house Legal Practise. Claire is an advocate of Learning & Development, and lectured in the Law Society and has spoken at international conferences on implementing Knowledge Management practices in businesses.
