The firm responsible for managing the State’s regional fibre networks and metropolitan area networks (MANs) has launched a campaign whereby it will write to 3,000 businesses across Ireland that are located close to the MANs and encourage them to drive demand for broadband services in their area.
e|net, the company which manages the State’s regional fibre networks, is delighted to announce today that it has signed deals with ESB Telecoms and BT Ireland, to create a new national, open access broadband infrastructure. The agreement links regional fibre infrastructures, increasing the potential of each of the company’s fibre platforms.
The EU’s decision to authorise the next phase of the Government’s €170m Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) programme to deploy fibre optic rings around 90 more Irish towns has received mixed reactions and questions over the tangible benefits MANs will deliver.
